Compiled by the Financial Times (FT) the list provides an overall top 500 employer ranking and a ranking by sector (with 58 education providers alone listed in this ranking).
Across all sectors Queen Mary is ranked 109th, putting it in the top 20% of UK employers.
The FT’s UK’s Best Employers 2026 rankings is an independent reflection of over 200,000 evaluations of areas that impact employees, such as working conditions, salary, potential for development and company image.
Professor Colin Bailey CBE, President and Principal of Queen Mary, said: “I am incredibly proud that Queen Mary has been recognised as a top employer in the UK education sector. Our community of staff are incredibly important to us, and we strive to make our University a great place to work for everyone.”
This success builds on a series of recognitions for the University in relation to student employability. In January 2026, Queen Mary was ranked 16th in the Graduate Market in 2026 report, compiled by High Fliers Research, while the 2025 Daily Mail rankings placed the University 12th in the UK for graduate earnings.
