Access to education is one contributing factor leading to the underrepresentation of women in Economics and Finance. Therefore, the objective of this programme is to help address this situation by providing opportunities for women globally to continue with their studies in Economics and Finance.
Eligibility Criteria:
- You must be or identify as a woman
- You must meet the entry requirements for the programme you have applied for, including academic equivalents and English language
- Are willing to contribute to promoting post-graduate studies in Economics and Finance at QMUL and to engage other women and girls in Economics and Finance for a total of 30 hours during your studies
The School of Economics and Finance at Queen Mary University of London is delighted to introduce a new Women in Economics and Finance Scholarship worth £6,000 for highly qualified postgraduate taught offer holders joining us in September 2026 and January 2027 (only available programmes). The Scholarship is available regardless of nationality to those who meet the following criteria:
- Achieve a minimum 2:1 Honours degree or overseas equivalent
- Hold an offer for an eligible postgraduate taught programme for the September 2026 intake*
Women in Economics and Finance Scholarships will be awarded automatically to eligible applicants. There is no application or registration process. The scholarship will be deducted from a recipient’s tuition fees when they enrol at Queen Mary.
Terms and Conditions:
- You must have achieved a minimum 2:1 Honours degree or an overseas equivalent degree. Information on the comparability of international qualifications can be found on the Entry Requirements section under the listings for each programme in the course finder. Please note this information is only intended as a guide and the final decision on equivalency of overseas qualifications will be made by the QMUL Admissions Office.
- This scheme is available only to students who apply for and enrol on an eligible course taught at Queen Mary in the 2026/27 academic year. Scholarships cannot be deferred to subsequent years of study.
- You must be enrolled on a full-time master’s programme.
- You must not be in receipt of any other University scholarship or full-fee scholarship from any other source. Students who are in receipt of a repayable Scholarship loan/award, such as FIDERH, FUNED or COLFUTURO are eligible.
- You must be fully self-funded.
- Pre-masters programmes (standalone and integrated) are not included in the Women in Economics and Finance Scholarship scheme.
- If you are awarded the scholarship, it will be deducted directly from tuition fees payable to the University. You must be able to finance the remainder of your tuition fees and living expenses.
- The scholarship will be confirmed when your admissions status is ‘unconditional firm’ (UF) and you enrol at Queen Mary.
- The scholarship is awarded by Queen Mary in line with the eligibility criteria and application requirements published above. We reserve the right to withdraw the scholarship if your fee status changes to Home or if you otherwise become ineligible for the award.
