Professor Rosa Lastra acts as Specialist Advisor for new Report on private markets
‘Private markets: unknown unknowns’ was published by the UK House of Lords’ Financial Services Regulation Committee and investigates the growth of private markets.

The Report examines whether the regulatory capital and liquidity reforms introduced after 2008 have pushed risk away from the banking sector towards private markets. It also investigates how much visibility the Bank of England has on the size of these private markets, their interconnections with the banking sector, and the risks that could pose.
As a Specialist Advisor to the Committee, Professor Rosa Lastra, Sir John Lubbock Chair in Banking Law at Queen Mary University of London, was called upon for guidance and support as throughout the drafting of the Report. Her research on “Systemic Risk, SIFIs and Financial Stability” was cited in the section looking at the effect private markets could have on financial stability.
Access the Report and read an overview and summary of findings on the UK Parliament website. ‘Private markets: unknown unknowns’ has generated significant media coverage and has been featured in The Guardian, The Times, the FT's The Banker, the Daily Telegraph, City AM, Reuters, and Bloomberg.
