Pioneering Global Innovation: Queen Mary Becomes the First Russell Group University to Partner with Hub71
We are thrilled to announce a landmark strategic collaboration between the School of Business and Management at Queen Mary University of London and Hub71, Abu Dhabi’s global tech ecosystem.
This partnership makes Queen Mary the first Russell Group university to formally join forces with Hub71, a platform at the heart of Abu Dhabi’s innovation and startup ecosystem.
A Strategic Initiative
This collaboration is the culmination of two years of focused strategic development initiated by Dr Spiros Batas, Programme Director of the MSc Management (January Intake). His vision has unlocked a unique opportunity for our school to engage meaningfully with one of the world’s most dynamic business environments.
The Impact
To ensure maximum value, the partnership will launch as an exclusive pilot for the MSc Management (January Intake), featuring:
- Real-World Capstone Projects: Students will solve live business challenges presented by Hub71’s startups.
- Future Scaling: Following this pilot, we plan to expand this model to other SBM programmes and broaden the scope to include faculty research collaborations.
It is incredibly rewarding to see this strategic partnership come to fruition after two years of dedicated development. This initiative offers our MSc Management students (Jan intake) a rare opportunity to act as consultants for Hub71 startups, addressing start-up challenges. By bridging the gap between academic theory and Abu Dhabi’s vibrant tech ecosystem, we are significantly enhancing our students' employability in a competitive global market. I look forward to scaling this model across other SBM programmes and deepening our collaboration through future research and executive education links.

This partnership represents a significant step forward in our commitment to global engagement, innovation, and employability.
