HSS Bursary Scheme
The Queen Mary University of London's Humanities and Social Sciences Student Bursary Scheme Spring 2025-26 is now open. It is open to applications from LLB students in year two, three or four of their degree, and LLM students in the School of Law.
Bursary details
This bursary scheme provides an opportunity to undertake paid research work, to be completed between 9 March to 26 June 2026 within the School of Law. Research projects will be carried out under the guidance of an academic member of staff within the School.
Deadline for applications is 12 noon on 27 February 2026.
The aim of the scheme is to help students to make appropriate career plans, and to understand the employability assets that they will offer future employers. They will develop generic and transferable skills, such as team‐working and communication, as well as subject‐specific skills in many instances. Students will also be encouraged to reflect on their learning experiences through their research.
On completion of the project, the Project Lead will submit a brief report outlining the work completed, the outcomes and next steps of their project. Students will be asked to a provide feedback outlining the skills gained or improved, ways in which participation in the project might have improved their employability prospects and feedback on their experience.
There is one project available in this round - please see below for details. Bursaries are fixed at £1,000 for a time commitment of no more than 64 hours, which students will be able to commit flexibly, as agreed with the Project Lead, between the dates above. Payments for projects during this year will be made to students as follows (both subject to confirmation by the project lead that the student has made appropriate progress):
- 40% on 30 April 2026.
