Growth, Skills and Innovation: Building prosperity in East London
Join us at Canary Wharf, One Canada Square, for the launch of a new collaborative effort to define a shared vision for growth, skills and innovation in East London. Queen Mary University of London and the East London Business Alliance are bringing together business, education, health, non-profits, communities and local authority leaders to share key priorities aligned with regional and national policies.
Our aim is to capture diverse perspectives from across our East London stakeholders and local communities, mapping local insights and opportunities against wider strategic frameworks - such as the London Growth Plan, Inclusive Talent Strategy, Skills White Paper, NHS 10 Year Plan, and the Industrial Strategy - to build a vision that is ambitious, collaborative, and deliverable.
With speakers including Sir Nigel Wilson, Chairman of Canary Wharf Group, the Rt Hon Sir Stephen Timms MP, Labour MP for East Ham and Minister for Social Security and Disability, and Julie Hutchinson, Chief Executive of East London Business Alliance, panels and roundtables will explore how place‑based collaboration can drive inclusive growth, delivering deeper economic and social impact across East London. Key areas of exploration will include the Connect to Work programme, social mobility, skills gaps, High streets, inclusive innovation, entrepreneurship and procurement.
