Career Conversations: Frequently Asked Questions
What are Career Conversations?
Career Conversations are small group 45-minute themed discussions supported by a Careers Consultant designed for groups of students to explore career-related topics together. They offer a supportive space to reflect, share ideas, and plan next steps alongside peers with similar interests or goals.
How are these different from 1:1 careers appointments?
Unlike 1:1 appointments which are tailored to individual needs, group sessions focus on shared themes—such as choosing a career path, exploring job options, or preparing for applications. You’ll benefit from peer insights and group discussions, as well as guidance from a careers adviser however the conversation is very much led by you and other participants.
Do I need to prepare anything before attending?
No formal prep is required, but you may want to reflect on your current thoughts or questions related to the session’s theme. Bringing a notepad or device to jot down ideas can also be helpful.
Will I have a chance to speak or ask questions?
Yes! Our Career Conversations are very much student led. To make the most of the session, you’re encouraged to contribute, ask questions, and engage with the conversation. It’s a great opportunity to share perspectives and gain clarity from group input.
- We try to make sure our appointments are available for everyone. So, you can only book two appointments per week. This should be ample for most people, if you need more please get in contact
